Privacy Policy

Sacred Time ("the app") is published by the team at sacredtime.life. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.

Data we collect

We collect no personal data. Sacred Time has no user accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. For most features the app makes no network requests. The only exceptions are the optional AI features described below.

Data stored on your device

The following data is created by you and stored only on your device:

• Journal entries, gratitude notes, to-do lists, and moods — stored in an encrypted database (SQLCipher, AES-256). The encryption key is stored in your device's secure hardware keystore (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain).
• Game statistics (memory game and sudoku scores) — stored in a local database.
• Settings (language, notification and audio preferences) — stored in local app preferences.
• App usage statistics (screen-time feature, Android only) — if you grant the Usage Access permission, the app reads daily app-usage durations from Android and stores a local copy so it can show you weekly screen-time reports. This data is never transmitted unless you use the AI screen-time summary feature described below.

Device backups of the app's data are disabled, so this data is not uploaded to cloud backup services.

Optional AI features and network requests

The following features send a small amount of data to our AI processing server. All AI features are optional and triggered only by your explicit action. The app functions fully without them.

These features route data through Supabase Edge Functions, which call the DeepSeek API to generate responses. Data sent is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers.

• Improve text (journal editor) — sends the journal entry text you are editing. Triggered only when you tap the "Improve" button.
• Evening reflection seed — sends your journal text and that day's gratitude note. Triggered only when you open the evening reflection prompt.
• Pattern nudge notification — sends short snippets (up to 120 characters each) from recent shadow-emotion journal entries. Runs once daily when generating your evening notification.
• Screen-time AI summary — sends anonymised app-usage observations (app names and durations, no journal text). Triggered only when you refresh the weekly screen-time summary.

No data sent to these features is linked to your identity. No account or device identifier is transmitted. Responses are used only to display the generated text in the app and are not retained by us.

Permissions the app requests

• Microphone / speech recognition — used only while you actively dictate a journal entry. Voice is processed entirely on-device by the Sherpa speech recognition model; no audio is transmitted anywhere.
• Usage access (Android, optional) — used only for the screen-time feature, as described above. The app works fully without it.
• Notifications (optional) — used to show local daily reminders. No notification data leaves your device, except for the AI-generated nudge text described above.

Data sharing

We do not sell or share your data. The only third-party service the app contacts is Supabase / DeepSeek — for the optional AI features described above. Data sent is limited to the content listed above and is not retained after a response is returned.

The "Share" feature in settings opens your device's share sheet with a generic message about the app; it shares nothing about you or your journal.

Data deletion

Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data, including the encrypted journal database and its encryption key. No data remains on our servers because none is stored there.

Children's privacy

The app does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated at sacredtime.life/privacy and the change will be noted in the app's release notes.
