Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Sacred Time mobile application ("the app"), published by the team at sacredtime.life. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What the app is

Sacred Time is a personal practice app: it converts dates to the Mayan calendar, offers daily interpretations inspired by Mayan tradition, and provides a private journal, gratitude log, to-do list, mood tracking, screen-time insights, and small games. The app works offline for all core features and requires no account. Certain optional AI features require an internet connection, as described in section 6.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from (Apple App Store or Google Play).

You may not:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the app;
• reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the app's source code, except where applicable law permits it;
• use the app in any way that violates applicable law.

3. Your content

Everything you create in the app — journal entries, gratitude notes, to-dos, and moods — is yours. It is stored on your device in encrypted form. Small portions of your content may be sent to our AI processing server when you explicitly use an optional AI feature (see section 6). Because we do not store your content server-side, we cannot access, restore, or recover it: if you uninstall the app or lose your device, your data is permanently lost. You are responsible for your own device backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

4. Not advice

The app's daily meanings, interpretations, and descriptions of Mayan calendar days are offered for reflection, cultural interest, and entertainment. They are not medical, psychological, financial, legal, or spiritual advice, and they are not predictions. Do not make important decisions based on them. The journal and mood features are personal tools, not a substitute for professional mental-health care — if you are struggling, please seek qualified help.

AI-generated text produced by the optional AI features (improved journal text, reflections, screen-time summaries) is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. It is offered as a creative aid only and is not advice of any kind.

Screen-time figures are read from your device's own usage statistics and may be incomplete or differ from other tools; they are informational only.

5. Intellectual property

The app's code, design, name, logo, artwork, and original texts are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. The Mayan calendar itself is a cultural and historical system that belongs to no one; our interpretations and presentation of it are our own work.

6. Third-party services

Some features rely on third-party services:

Voice dictation — processed entirely on-device using the Sherpa speech recognition model; no audio is sent to us or any third party.

Optional AI features — the "Improve text", "Evening reflection seed", and "Pattern nudge" features send limited data (journal text snippets, usage observations, and your language setting) to Supabase Edge Functions, which call the DeepSeek API to generate a response. This data is processed in real time and is not stored by us. Use of these features is subject to DeepSeek's and Supabase's terms of service. You can use the app fully without enabling these features.

Rate / Review — uses the official App Store / Google Play review dialog, governed by Apple's and Google's own terms.

7. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that calendar calculations or interpretations are free of mistakes, or that AI-generated text will be accurate, appropriate, or useful.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app, including any reliance on AI-generated content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app (which, for the free version, is zero).

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the law of your place of residence.

9. Changes to the app and these Terms

We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time. We may also revise these Terms; the current version will always be available at sacredtime.life/terms, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate this license if you materially breach these Terms.
